Travel Details

The Aninga Hotel has a private transportation that will take you from San José to Tortuguero. The bus leaves at around 6:30 am from your hotel in San Jose towards the Caribbean zone of the country. On the way to Tortuguero, once the city is left behind, you start seeing more nature and biodiversity.

In one of the sections of the route, we will cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park, beautiful rainforest with its 47.588 hectares, is a home to about 6,000 species of plants and more than 500 species of birds. After leaving the national park, we go down to the lowlands of the Caribbean where vegetation and climate are very different. There we will stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast and tropical fruits at the restaurant El Ceibo in Guapiles which is surrounded by a lush vegetation of the tropical rainforest.

After we will continue our way we'll drive through the pineapple and banana plantations where the expert guide will tell you about the history of these plantations and explain the entire process.

This road will get us to one of the harbors Pavona or Caño Blanco from where we will take a boat.

While navigating the river, we will sail through the Tortuguero canals, where you'd be able to see many different species of birds, alligators, caimans, iguanas and other reptiles as well as sloths or any of the 3 monkey species that live in this area of the country. At the end of the boat trip, we'll arrive at the hotel just right for lunch time where you'll get the refreshing cocktail and enjoy the buffet along with the excellent service and hospitality.
